When our families and shopping lists expand, we don’t often consider the ingredients that go into making our favorite and most-used products. Especially with a big life change such as a couple having their first child, the health of these everyday household products should be researched. A California-based blog called the Tot Scoop Blog published an article in October of 2014 titled “The Complete Guide to Non-Toxic Baby Products.” In the article, Kate McCarthy outlines the importance of shopping non-toxic and keeping products that do contain harmful chemicals away from children. She lists safe alternatives to products from cribs to pacifiers and gives pricing options for parents within these categories.

Even without a life-changing event like having a child, healthy products are important. The Honest Company provides household products, diapers, cleaning supplies, and other everyday materials completely toxic-free and environmentally friendly. Another good check is EWG’s Skin Deep program that lets consumers know what’s in the products they use and consume. Being an informed shopper doesn’t always mean you splurge for products, but it does guarantee a sense of relief at making the healthiest choices.
